SHOUT OUT TO JAMESON IRISH WHISKEY FOR ONCE AGAIN SHOWING LOVE TO US BARTENDERS!

This year's Jameson Ball took place at Black Cat DC, and I didn't take many pictures this time around, but I definitely had a grand time! Even though I know it's a total pat on the back for them, it's nice to be appreciated! Thanks for the night off, Jameson!

Thursday night at Irish Whiskeys is definitely the move! Phil Kominski from The Lloyd Dobler Effect plays acoustic covers and sing-alongs. He's one of the dopest, fun, bar performers I've ever met!

My boy said come over and drink SUPER RARE ridiculously expensive Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon with him! LOOOOOOOVE this life!
Really don't know what I did to deserve to be drinking this but uhm... yeah. Don't mind if I do!

I like this whiskey.
It is a copper colored offering, with some heavy corn and oak notes...maybe some vanilla too. The feel and presentation of the bottle will tempt you to make Manhattans with it, but nah. Just pour it right in a glass with a bit of water, no ice. Hell, drink it straight and light a cigarette, you Don Draper, you!

Hudson Bay Bourbon Whiskey 92 Proof, Aged 3 months.

Average price is around $40

Some dear friends gathered around me to celebrate my birthday this year! We went to Mission a Mexican themed tequila restaurant literally across the street from the Dupont Circle Metro. So if ya love tequila check the place out. They have a lot of it. No Cuervo tho. Which doesn't matter at all to me since I'm not a fan of the tequila... but hey. Who can turn down a tequi-lime birthday cake??

Mission also has a Sunday Brunch for $35 which
is pretty dope.

So... as an artist, I've always enjoyed Absolut's marketing. I must've tried every single one of their products based on their marketing alone. So I tried their newest...and straight up 'what the fuck' creation, Absolut OAK. I mentioned it to a friend of mine and he surprised me with a bottle for my upcoming birthday.

I love the smell, but I hate the taste. It'll be sitting on my bar for A WHILE.

21st Amendment is probably best known for their Hell or High Watermelon beer, that I see a lot of folk throwing themselves on during the summer. Mostly so they can turn and make the same tired ass joke to their token black friends. Anywho- I just discovered another great beer of theirs, the Fireside Chat Winter Spiced Ale. Inspired by the radio addresses of President Franklin D. Roosevelt between 1933-1944. Boasting a 7.9% ABV, this beer has a malt toffee aroma, with hints of cinnamon and ginger. I didn't really get to enjoy a whole beer, because it was only in my posession to serve for the Beer-A-Thon Pub Crawl Members. From what I can gather, it tastes almost like a chocolate fruitcake.

Hey! Did you see me on FOX 5 with Shawn Yancy discussing Science Club's 'Carbon Copy' cocktail?

The 'Carbon Copy' is a delicious martini built with Russian Standard Vodka, Hibiscus Tea & Pineapple Syrup, and Lime Bitters.
The exotic tart taste of the hibiscus tea blended with the natural sweetness of pineapple combines to make a delicious cocktail that will give your mothers' Cosmo an eviction notice!

To top it all off, it's finished with a chip of dry ice that makes the cocktail smoke like it's fresh from the chemistry lab! (Or a witch's cauldron if you're feeling spooky)

Thanks again to Shawn Yancy, and the entire staff of DC's Fox 5 News for having me on!!

(Make sure you're wearing the proper protective safety geear when handling dry ice!)

Carbon Copy

1 1/2 oz Premium Vodka (with no added flavors or fruits)
1 oz Hibiscus Tea /Pineapple Juice/Simple Syrup (this you prepare before hand, adding the Pineapple and simple syrup to the tea once it's cooled)
1 Dash of Lime bitters

Goose Island IPA is a decent golden beer that has a sweet, malty taste that's not offensive. Nothing more, nothing less. We now have it at Kelly's Irish Times over on Capitol Hill... but more importantly, I love this freakin' tap handle. Yes, I still am infatuated with ducks.

I can be lazy as fuck. So when I heard that the heaven sent angels over at High West Distillery created The 36th Vote, a barrel aged Manhatted bottled and ready to be devoured! And I'm here to tell you guys. It's DELICIOUS. It's not that pre-packaged college girl mix in a bottle, this here's your grandaddy's special cough syrup! I'm talking about a prohibition style ratio of two parts rye, which High West uses their own 95% rye. One part sweet vermouth, plus a couple dashes Angostura bitters. The mix is then put back into an oak barrel (formerly used for the rye) for 120 un-oxidized days. So I implore you. Go get this whisky. Put it in a glass with one ice cube. Enjoy.
Watching Amelie while enjoying is optional...but definitely recommended.

If you like German beer, snacks and pretzels and all that stuffs, H St. has a beer garden. It's really not my scene, y'know just a buncha corny, kinda pretentious young professionals sitting around talking about shit they can't change. Beer is good, and comes in huge servings though. Y'know that whole German thing, or whatever. They also have a huge outside space, and the staff is really nice. I don't know...check it for yourself.

Beirgarten Haus is located at 1355 H St. NE Washington, DC 20002. It's a Bavarian bar with a large heated beer garden/patio, sports on the TVs, German pub grub & beer.

My co-worker created this ridiculous bombing drink called "The Drive By" just for me. Surprisingly, it tastes like a 211 Steel Reserve. No...actually it tastes delicious. Give it a try. Bomb a shot of Hennessy into a pint of Heineken.

Summer is here! Well, not officially according to Caesar's Calendar... but the sun is out to play! So for the music, and Sunday Funday lovers of DC, you know the spot is Marvin over off of U St. As you can see I'm already out here in my white beach shirt listening to these cookout funk/hip-hop/R&B/groove/feel good jams courtesy of resident DJs Keenan Orr and Smudge!

Marvin is located at 2007 14th St. NW Washington, DC 20009
It pays homage to Marvin Gaye with downstairs dining from Belgium & the American South & an upstairs roof bar.

Hey! Summertime is approaching, so that means Cantina Marina, DC's dive bar on the southwest Waterfront is opening again soon. Luckily for me, I'm in the bar industry so I get to hang out there on this beautiful spring evening with my boy Sean (also in the industry) drinking these fabulous Bulldog Cadillac Margaritas!

Bulldog Cadillac Margarita aka Escalade

You Need:
1 1/2 oz. Jose Cuervo Gold Tequila
1/2 oz. Cointreau Orange Liqueur (Triple Sec is fine as well)
1 oz. Lime Juice
2 1/2 oz. Sour Mix
1/2 oz. Grand Marnier Orange Liqueur
1 Coronita (basically the 6.4 oz bottle of Corona)

If you want your margarita like the pic, use the Grand Marnier miniature bottle instead. Not going to talk to you how to make a margarita. Just throw your Coronita and GM bottle in your cocktail and enjoy!

Had a little private Sunday day gathering at my bar with some close adult friends. Because I try to be cute sometimes, I decided to give the ladies a clever little spin on the traditional red wine Sangria, and go with some white. It was refreshing and quite delicious! Those carafes were empty in about 20 minutes. HA!

Peach Sauvignon Sangria

3 peaches, peeled, and pitted. Slice up!
1 lime. Sliced Up!
1/4 cup sugar

1 (750-ml) bottle of Sauvignon Blanc
1 container of fresh strawberries

Directions:
Dump some peaches, limes and sugar in a large pitcher or applicable container, then add wine.
Stir gently ass you add wine to dissolve sugar.
Cover with plastic wrap, and chill 2 hours. Afterwards, stir mixture again.
Pour through a cheesecloth-lined sieve into another pitcher or container.
Pour sangria into ice-filled glasses.
Slice fresh strawberries.
Garnish with remaining peach, lime and strawberry slices.
